I read A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin My rating: 5 of 5 stars This has definitely become one of my favorite books. I shared my Winter with this book, reading slowly, chapter by chapter, and it was such a ride. In 2022, I decided to start watching the show, which I did not pay much attention to when it was being released. I absolutely loved it, even though I hated the butchered ending. Now reading the books was a whole other experience. George R. R. Martin is an absolute genius. The writing is beautiful and infinitely superior to the series. The intricacies, the plots, the characters and the way they relate to each other, the world-building, everything is insane, absolutely high level. No wonder this is one of the most appraised fantasy series out there. I will definitely go to the next book as soon as I can. I am just now trying to find the second book of the A Song of Ice and Fire series in an edition to match the one I have, and since Amazon does not have it available, my purs

My 5 Favorite Books of 2022

Hello, everybody! If you are reading this, thank you so much for being here. 2022 was a fantastic year when my life changed for the best. After spending 2020 and 2021 in the biggest reading slump of my life, where I read zero books in two years, I decided to bring back reading to my life, as a central activity, given that it is something I have always loved and cherished. I have a Degree in Literature, which should mean that I read many books, but that was different. Taking the degree took a toll on me. My views about literature and reading sent me far away from what initially drove me to read. I just wanted to read for fun when I started, and that’s what I was missing at the university. I felt like I had to read “real literature” and hard books that were not easy to understand without wasting time to have fun with the books I liked. There were so many things in that experience that I had to get over to get back to reading just for fun. After two years in a reading slump, I bought a fe

I read all volumes of Hunter x Hunter by Yoshihiro Togashi

Hello, and welcome to my blog. I am happy to share this post today because it took a lot of reading to get here. It has been a fun journey overall, but oh boy, was I in for a treat. The first time I got in touch with Hunter x Hunter dates back to the early 2000s. I have been watching anime since a very early age. I can date back my first memories of watching anime to around six years old. I distinctly remember watching Dragon Quest - The Legend of Kai and Dragon Ball. After that, I proceeded to watch all that the early 2000s could offer a kid. Saint Seiya - Knights of the Zodiac, Pokemon, Digimon, Monster Rancher, Shinzo, Shurato, etc. An extensive list that I went through endlessly, watching and rewatching multiple episodes. Above all, the one that marked me the most during my childhood was YuYu Hakusho, maybe because it had a darker tone than all the others. On YuYu Hakusho, the plot revolves around a detective that fights demons in the spiritual world alongside his companions, and

My Journey as a Reader Continues

I decided to stop saying “hello, everyone,” as I understand absolutely no one reads this blog. Still, the narrator must introduce his voice in a text, so hello, and welcome to my blog. August was the first month where I did not make any updates to this blog since I created it. September was just about to become the second month, but I decided to step forward. My mom left Canada to continue her travels in Portugal at the end of September. Work has gone berserk over the past month, but I still was able to read a lot, even more, when I could finally step out for two weeks of vacation after 3+ years of constant work. Now, with all these readings that I have made, there’s just so much to talk about. I am at the prime of my experience as a reader so far in this lifetime. Above all, one thing that has been making a huge difference for me is getting soundtracks to match what I am reading. Since I started this journey of reading more and more, I have begun selecting ambiance tracks on youtube t

I read The Priory of The Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon & Carrie by Stephen King

Hello everybody, welcome back to my blog. This post is an extension of the Library readings. Basically, as I told you guys in my previous post, I started visiting the Library because my mother started taking English classes there. I got quite a few books the last time I was there, and these are the two latest books I read from this first bunch of books I picked up there. This plan to become a frequent reader and dedicate more to reading started with a simple goal as well. I wanted to ensure that every book I owned in my house was read before buying the next one. I ended up pilling about four new books without reading the ones I already had because I took some time reading the books I got at the Library. But well, now let’s talk a little bit about these books. The Priory of The Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon What a fantastic fantasy book. I chose to read this because I saw booktuber The Book Leo recommend it, and right after that, I stumbled upon it at my local library. The funny thin

Hello readers, and welcome back to my blog. This is the first time I am rewriting a post because I erased everything I did by mistake and the Blogger platform kindly saved exactly when I deleted everything by accident. I was a little upset, not going to lie, but just because this is going to be a long post. I officially and definitively moved back to writing on Google Docs and then putting the text back to blogger. It’s going to be our secret. I have been away for longer than I had in the past. Even though this blog has only started, every time I finish a new post, I have a strong sense of completion that makes it worth it, and makes me feel like I should post regularly — a fictional demand for a reader of fictional books. The reason why I have been away is a noble one. I am having my mom visit me in Canada for the first time. She has been enjoying the city a lot and getting to know the ways of the quiet life in Moncton, New Brunswick. As this is her first time spending a few months in
