I read Bleach Vol. 1 by Tite Kubo, and... it's very mid!

Bleach, Vol. 1 by Tite Kubo My rating: 2 of 5 stars I just finished reading Bleach vol. 1, and... it's very mid! 😅 I read this because of The Manga Squad, a reading group from Goodreads that I am a part of. 📚 I know it is one of the biggest names in Manga and Anime right now, but it felt so stiff and unoriginal. Progressing to future volumes would probably make me enjoy it a little more, but what I had so far was not enough to keep me interested. 😓 The boy sees ghosts trope was not that interesting anymore, at least not how it was executed. The comedy was not funny, and there was even a transphobic joke, which is never the best, but it is shonen manga, so what did I expect? 😣 The ending was even worse with the evil Parakeet. Come on, folks, that was just silly. 🤡 I will not read volume 2, but if you absolutely LOVE Bleach and think it MUST be read over other manga, please let me know your reasons. I'd love to try to understand. 🧐 Happy Saturday to everyone! 🎉🎉 View

I read JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Part 1— Phantom Blood, Vol. 2, and I Really liked it!

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Part 1—Phantom Blood, Vol. 2 by Hirohiko Araki My rating: 4 of 5 stars I just finished my second volume of Jojo's, and things have definitely improved. 🎉🎉 The artwork is AMAZING, excellent stuff. I really like Jonathan Joestar!! 🥰🤭 Things got interesting. Dio is a fantastic villain. I loved the references to historical figures. They made things pop out and get a little brighter, at least for me. 🧛🏻‍♂️🧟🏻‍♂️ The dialogue still seems harsh. I am not sure if the translation or the fact that it was the 80's, but things look very blunt, with no foreshadowing. However, that does make for a Bizarre Adventure I guess. 🤔 Anyway... you can count me in as a Jojo fan as of now!! 🥳🥳 I am anxious to get the next volume, which is already on hold in my local library. 🤗 View all my reviews

I read A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin

A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin My rating: 5 of 5 stars Reading this book was a fantastic journey! 🤗 I got back into reading about a year ago, and fantasy has been my favorite genre so far. 🧙🏻‍♂️ I decided to start reading the books of A Song of Ice and Fire after watching the HBO series Game of Thrones. I know it's a cliche, but the books are definitely better than the series. Daenerys and Jon are my favorite POVs, and I am always anxious to get to their chapters. I will need a break from 900+ pages of books for a few weeks, but I plan to get to the next book in the series soon. Easy 5 stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ View all my reviews

I read JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Part 1— Phantom Blood, Vol. 1, and I liked it!

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Part 1—Phantom Blood, Vol. 1 by Hirohiko Araki My rating: 3 of 5 stars I finally started my JoJourney! So far, no big feelings. The art is very outdated. The story was kind of good but slightly generic. I could relate a bit to Jonathan Joestar in certain moments, which made it easier to get through the story. However, I understand the best of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure happens later in the story, and I will definitely stick around to see what's coming next. This volume did end on a bit of a cliffhanger, so I am anxiously waiting for the second volume, which I already have on hold at the library. I can't wait to read the next one! View all my reviews

I read How High We Go in the Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu

How High We Go in the Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu My rating: 2 of 5 stars I started liking this book a lot, but then it went downhill. I recognize it's an excellent book. It just wasn't for me. I may give a second chance to it. I was interested, but as I entered a very busy time at work, the book suddenly felt like a drag, and I remembered that I wanted to read for fun and not to get bored. At a certain point, I found myself skimming some of the pages and not feeling fully connected to the book, which I totally already do at work, so I don't want to do that during my reading time. I was very close to dnf'ing, but then I went and got myself an Audible trial, blasted the audiobook on my headphones as I played The Sims 4 on a lovely apartment in San Mashyuno, and just finished the hell out of it. Then I realized I hadn't paid enough attention, returned all the chapters, and listened to them again while cooking on 2x speed. The voice actors could barely breathe. Maybe

I read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling My rating: 5 of 5 stars I just finished Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone on audiobook. 🎧📚 It was an amazing experience. I heard great things about Jim Dale's narration, and they were all right. His quidditch narration is remarkable. 🤗 I recently realized audiobooks are a great way to revisit old favorites. Have you ever tried Harry Potter's audiobooks? 🧐 View all my reviews
