Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin My rating: 5 of 5 stars This is a masterpiece! 👏🏻 This book made its way to my top favorite books ever. I started reading it with no expectations whatsoever. I first heard about it from Booktube and decided to put it on hold at the library. James Baldwin's writing caught me right from the start. I think the plot was okay, but the incredible writing turns this into an incredible book. Young Mungo by Douglas Stuart My rating: 3 of 5 stars This book is sad! I spent the last few days reading Young Mungo by Douglas Stuart. It took me some work to finish. Not only to read it but also to process it emotionally. This is a very dark story, and I strongly recommend everyone check all the trigger warnings before diving into it. From a literary point of view, the book is wonderful. It feels like diving into the 1990s in a way that other art forms do not allow us to. As a queer boy who grew up in Brazil in the 90s, a lot of things in the book have resonated with my experience. It reminded me of times I prefer not to remember so well. However, I still fell in love with Mungo and his story. It was lovely, delicate, and harsh, just like real life. Violence is almost a character by itself in Young Mungo, it gives birth to characters and shapes them, their actions, and their bodies. Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk My rating: 5 of 5 stars This is one of my favorite books ever. I just finished a reread of Fight Club. The last time I read it was around 2012, and it was already a reread then. 12 years later and I still find it fascinating. It hits all the marks for me. The first time I got in touch with the story was watching the movie when I was still in high school, and I was so in love with everything about it. I made horrible decisions in my life because of the cheap philosophy contained in those pages, and I loved every moment and have no regrets. If you watched the movie, reading the book is still a great experience. Chuck Palahniuk has an incredible writing style that uses language in such a fun way. I love the use of repetition which creates a sense of rhythm and aesthetic throughout the whole book. The nihilism. Wolfsong by T.J. Klune My rating: 4 of 5 stars I just finished reading Wolfsong by TJ Klune! 🌈 This book was straightforward and easy to read. There was a strong YA vibe and the gay werewolf thing was fun, but I feel like the book could be at least 100 pages short. I read someone say they would have gone mad about this book if they read it when they were 16 years old. I feel like I would be the same and that's the reason why I liked the book overall. A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin My rating: 5 of 5 stars I can't believe I finished reading A Storm of Swords! 😮 First of all, this was the longest book I have read in my life so far. 1177 pages. It was absolutely worth it! OMG, the ending!! If you have only watched the series but have not read the books you are not prepared for the last paragraph in this book! I watched the series first, so as I progressed on the book series I noticed the differences, and sometimes I was very shocked. (Oh my god she is alive! 😱) I love how much more magic the books have compared to the series. (Coldhands 😲) My favorite povs: Daenerys, Jon, and Arya. The writing is beautiful, I am happy that I took the time to read this series. The Son of the Prophets by Bryan Wilson My rating: 4 of 5 stars I finally finished reading The Son of The Prophets! Action-packed is the best definition for this book! The book starts with action, is filled with action, and finishes with action. There's no breathing room, it took me a long time to read it, but only because my personal life was absolute chaos, the book is super fast-paced and can probably be read quickly if you have the time to invest in the story. I had it since it was still unpublished as an ARC, but was only able to finish by now, as the book is already published. There was a huge evolution plot-wise when compared to the first book in the series, The Forsaken Planet. We have way more POVs, and the stakes are higher for every character in the book. A lot of things that were missing in the first book have come to make up for it in this one. We have a more diverse representation of characters and more POVs, which makes the plot way more complex, and those are g
